
In an effort to keep Kart Racing fun and affordable, Thunder Hill Speedway is introducing the use of a very affordable and reliable engine. This engine is a 6.5 horsepower engine. Other tracks across the nation have been using this engine for over 3 years with great results in reliability, performance and very competitive racing. It is working the best to leave the engine as Box Stock as possible. At Thunder Hill Speedway we will allow this engine to be used in our Novice class and Junior Wing/Box Stock Wing Class as per the rules below. 6.5 OHV ENGINE RULES
-The only engine allowed in this class is the 6.5hp (196cc engine only) OHV "Clone Motor"
-Novice competitors CAN NOT remove governor or any oem linkages, springs, etc...
-Novice must also run .425 restrictor plate available from Thunder Hill Speedway
-Box Stock Motor
-May remove oil sensor and kill switch
-Jr Wing class may remove the governor
-may use stock muffler or pencil header
On this 6.5 OHV motor for 2010 you will be allowed the stock, factory muffler or you may run a "pencil" style header. Header must be maximum length of approx.12", with a max of 5/8" ID pipe.

-All internal and external engine parts must remain stock as from factory
-no machining, porting, polishing, 196 cc only
-no aftermarket/competitor parts allowed
-no advanced/altered timing
-factory air filter or after market filter with adapter* allowed
-shoe-type clutch only
-Pump Gas only, 87-93 octane, no racing fuel, E-85 fuel, no additives, NO N.O.S.
-must have ty-rap on plug wire to kill engine
-Alternative throttle kit allowed
-35 chain only, no 219 chain allowed
- tachometers allowed
-Engine Claim Rule: Claim is $150. Engine claim to include complete engine, header and muffler and air filter. Engine claim does not include engine mount, throttle linkage, clutch and clutch guard. Engine claim may be made by anyone running in this class following the feature event, must notify track official within 10 minute of the end of the feature event to claim. The track may also Claim your engine at any time or replace it with a new one at any event. Track will keep the option to tech any competitor at random, at any time.
NOVICE CLASS version of this engine will be the same rules except: Governors must remain on engine and must run .425 restrictor plate
We do have specs we will follow for tech on this engine. This engine is intended for affordability and fun. Take it out of the box and race it!
Any competitors found to be cheating will lose all points, awards! No Exceptions!
